Kate loves to share her excitement for local history, research and the writing process with school children and community groups. Several programs are available including Power Point presentations chock full of photos, maps and diagrams, as well as a low-tech talk about 1830's clothing using reproduction costumes.

The Six Degrees of Abraham Lincoln 

Using the “Six Degrees of Separation” theory, Kate takes her audience on a PowerPoint tour of sites in northern Illinois that have some sort of tie with Abraham Lincoln, finding many odd and interesting facts that make Lincoln and his times come alive for us today.

Joseph Naper and the Original Thirteen

A 45 minute Power Point presentation telling the story of Naperville's founding families. Includes the most recently uncovered facts and how the history became Ruth's story.

A one hour Power Point presentation that begins with researching history, explains the differences between fact, fiction and "creative non-fiction," and discusses writing techniques and careers.
